Gladstone Parks & Recreation, The Gladstone HyVee, The Gladstone Rotary Club and The Gladstone Area Chamber of Commerce hosted the 12^th annual Gladstone Scarecrow 5K Run / Walk on Sunday, October 1, 2006. On practically a perfect day 163 runners and walkers participated in the event, which benefits the Northland Christmas Store. The Northland Christmas Store provides needy families of the Northland with food and gifts during the holiday season.

The following companies were major sponsors of the event: Gladstone HyVee, Fond Memories Engraving, Sylvan Learning, Commerce Bank, First Bank of Missouri, We-Mac, Turnage Financial Services, Northland Cardiology, Pizza Street Restaurant, Park University, Automated Lifestyles, Worth Harley-Davidson, Pepsi Cola and Reed Photography. The overall men’s winner under 40 was Zach Breitenstein and the overall men’s winner over 40 was Jeff Behrens. The overall women’s winner under 40 was Jamie Dawson and the overall women’s winner over 40 was Patti Potts.
